New position: Visiting Assistant Professor of Islamic World History at California State University, Fresno

1 July 2016: I am proud to announce that this Fall I am starting a new position in the History Department at California State University, Fresno. I will be a 3-year visiting assistant professor of Islamic World History, teaching two courses a semester on topics related to the modern Middle East, migration, WWI, and Islam while finishing my book on the First World War in Syria’s diaspora. I will also start up and organize a new symposia series in Islamic Studies, offering workshops, speakers, and extracurricular programming on topics related to Islamic history and diversity in Islamicate societies.

I’m pleased to join the faculty in Fresno and for this opportunity to amplify the voices of scholars working in this field. I’ll update here as the planning continues.
